Create a Mission Statement for Your Relationship

Why - of all people - are we together?

A mission statement is really a statement of purpose. We create “mission statements” for school essays, our careers, businesses and other important matters in life. Relationships are some of the most meaningful, and significant parts of our entire lives, and deserve intentionality. The positive energy in relationships can sometimes spiral downwards if we dwell too much on the trivial matters. If we keep in mind the broader perspective of why we are together, it can lift the burden of anything that is a detour from that greater calling.

Ask yourself, what is it we want to accomplish by being together? Get specific and make it genuine.

My partner and I have a clear mission together. Among many other goals, we want to support one another’s highest expression of who we are. I really believe if we get more intentional about our relationships, we open up space to flourish and thrive. There is too much to say about this topic for one post, so more to come. I hope you create a mission statement for your relationship - self, romantic, friend or other - and watch unfold how your intention shifts the quality of your partnership.

Have fun!
